The blogging rhythm

Hello!

Sometimes I post and sometimes I take 3 year hiatuses.

I am trying to get back into a rhythm. I am trying to turn from person who blogs to blogger. Toward that goal, I now have a schedule of posts that spans several months.

But I am struggling a bit to do the actual writing and posting.

First of all, I am still coming down off of dissertation burn out. I spent at least 2 years in burn out mode. Now, even though it is 9 months after my defense, I still find it difficult to write anything. Even fun little tasks raise my hackles and my procrastination arm.

Second, my commute is long. I work 4 10 hour days, leaving the house at 6:20 and returning home between 6:15-6:45, thanks to the long commute. I find I have little time to do blog stuff in the evenings.

Third, I am still reacting from The Dude’s health scare. It has really knocked the wind out of us. It was scary, and the recovery time has been long. The financial stress has been constant. We start to climb out, then more water gushes down on us.

Finally, I am trying to spend some time figuring out what I want this blog to be, and how I want to proceed. That needs time on its own.

So I promise that in the coming months, I will share our budget, grocery shopping strategies, and snowballing debt. I will reengage my sociological brain to do some social thinking posts. And I will get back to my preschool TV analysis. But I will be doing them on a fairly fluid timeline for right now.
